The first part of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Trishawas a grand box office success turning out to be the second biggest blockbuster of Tamil cinema after Shankar’s 2.0.
Its sequel titled Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 or PS-2 has rocked the box office in 2023 and has become one of the few Tamil films to hit Rs 200 crore at the global box office.

In India, it earned close to Rs 90 crore in the first three days and over $10 million (Rs 82 crore approx) overseas.
Sharing the figures, the official Twitter account of the film’s production house shared, “Breaking barriers and conquering the globe! #PS2 soars high and crosses over 200 crores worldwide!”

In India, the business stays behind the first three-day collection of the first part but the strong hold on Monday suggests that PS-2 is in for a longer haul at the box office.
